As with any type of job offer an effective free classified ad needs to stand out from the crowd. It can’t be a bare bones twenty word wanted ad. It has to have some pizzazz to get readership. And if done properly will give you a list of qualified applicants to choose from.

The first thing that is needed is an attention grabbing title. Don’t be afraid to use words like leadership, communicator, guidance, and command in your title. Don’t do what everyone else does. Ordinary unimaginative ads are a dime a dozen. For instance you could use this as a title for an ad: “software consultant needed.” Yep, another boring headline. Classified ads have been around for a very long time. Even the cave men had them. Back in those days the ad may have looked like a stick figure with a bow and arrow and may meant “selling good bow with one arrow, cheap.” Now we have internet and free classified ads. Free classified ads are much more sophisticated than print version ads. They include pictures and have a decent amount of text to describe your product.

Placing a free classified ad is easy. There are just a few things to think about and a few things to do before making your ad visible to the entire civilized world. These are common sense starting points before writing your free classified ad.

• Who are you targeting with your ad? This is important. Is your target audience a man or woman, boy or girl, old or young?

• What you are selling. If you are selling multiple items be specific. Posting an ad for an estate sale is not going to do you any good if you don’t let your public know what you are selling. The what if the sale also goes back to the “who.” If you’re selling girls bikes you’ve got the who as well as the what.

• When are your items available? When is the best time for a customer to come and look at them and maybe buy them? Post the time in the ad. If you’re putting a telephone number in your free classified ad put the best time to call. It’s a good idea to ad a pm or am after the time.

Other people may find that a life situation or incident leaves them incapable of moving forward. A therapist and counselors can provide one on one and group talk therapy, however they cannot administer testing or prescribe medications. Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House Turns 80

Little House on the Prairie is a classic book written by a woman named Laura Ingalls Wilder. This stunning tale shares the story of Laura’s family as they moved from Wisconsin to the open prairie. Little House on the Prairie is beautifully illustrated and it is filled with a collection of inspiring stories about their journey as well as their destination.

The book is celebrating its 80th anniversary and is particularly appealing to older children because it is filled with wonderful life lessons as well as adventures. Little House on the Prairie is a fantastic teaching tool because the reader learns historical facts as he reads the text. There are also many lessons about priorities, relationships and work ethic.

Many of us are familiar with the book by Laura Ingalls Wilder through the very popular show inspired by Little House on the Prairie. In fact, many of us wound up reading the book after seeing so many great episodes featured in this well-known television series. After watching the show, we were inspired to read the book.

The characters are well written and they are well presented in the series, too. I love stories that have such a deep human element while still maintaining a sense of humor as well. The Little House on the Prairie stories will make you smile but you may have to wipe a tear here and there, too when you experience them.

Now that the program is no longer in production, I figured that I’d better invest in some products for my daughter. There are too many important lessons presented in the Little House on the Prairie series and book that I couldn’t help but look for items that relate to this subject.

I was thrilled to discover that the book is still in print! You can order a copy of Little House on the Prairie right online. This makes for a wonderful present for kids of all ages. I bought a copy for my sister, too, who is completely in love with the characters. She even named her first daughter Laura.

I also found a collection of the Little House on the Prairie television series. Of course, I ordered the collection right away. I love that my daughter will have a chance to enjoy the story by Laura Ingalls Wilder just as I did when I was her age. This is one of the most valuable gifts I’ve ever bought for her.

Stuck in Traffic and Hating It?

Let’s not kid ourselves. No one likes getting stuck in heavy traffic. No one likes getting stuck in medium traffic for that matter. This is why I can’t see the appeal of large cities. I’ve been to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. I stayed in each for a couple weeks, just to soak up the atmosphere. Now let me be completely honest.

You can have the “city of angels” and Manhattan. The traffic in these two urban wonderlands is horrendous. I mean I can’t stand it! If you actually live in Los Angeles, you must spend half of your life on the freeway. And as far as Manhattan goes, you might as well not even own a vehicle. It’s ridiculously congested.

This brings us to the topic of road rage. The problem has been around for a long time, but only recently addressed. What’s your local traffic like, and is road rage a major issue? Having people honk their horns at the little old ladies is not my idea of a good time.

You can find road rage pretty much anywhere. However, it seems to be more prevalent in major cities, where the local traffic is atrocious. Now, there is a way to help avoid getting stuck in a chaotic crowd of vehicles. Think about the local traffic reports. You can access updates whenever you please.

If the local news isn’t available, simple get on your laptop. Punch in the words “local traffic” and you can get an update with webcams in mere seconds. Yep, you heard me right. Most areas have traffic cams, which are running at all hours, 24/7. See what the traffic is like before you head out. Just maybe you want to take an alternative route if the Interstate is congested, or your typical path to work is backed-up.

There are billions of us sharing this planet. Naturally we’re going to collide and get in each other’s way at times. The key to these stressful situations is to take a deep breath, relax, and move on. Never succumb to road rage and immature vehicular violence! What good could possibly come of it? If you truly can’t stand to be stuck in traffic, then I suggest you take advantage of online local traffic updates. See what’s going on out there before you hit the highway. If the traffic is too thick, then simply avoid delving into the madness. There are often alternatives available.

When Washing Your Hands Isn’t Good Enough

Our society has become more aware of bacteria and germs. Every where you go in public you see signs to wash your hands, especially in public restrooms. Our agency adjoins the public health nurses office.

One of the nurses put a poster in the employee restroom that goes through the step by step procedure for washing your hands. The poster encourages you to open the door to the restroom with a paper towel when you are exiting to avoid the germs on the door knobs. Many people are using anti-bacteria soaps and dish detergents to keep a safer kitchen area.

All of the hand washing and anti-bacteria soaps are good; however as with everything they need to be used in moderation. We need to be exposed to some bacteria so we build up our immune systems. I work with families that have mentally ill children or parents. In two of the families the mother’s have obsessive compulsive disorder.

They are constantly after their children to wash their hands, yet they allow them to put toys that are in public areas in their mouths. One of the mother’s loves to collect plush stuffed animals. She had them displayed in rather interesting ways throughout the home. She does not give a second though to her infant playing with the plush stuffed toys, even though they are probably covered with dust mites and other bacteria. She picks up the soft cuddly animals at garage sales and second hand stores.

I have always enjoyed plush stuffed animals. I had quite a collection when I was a child. My brother helped out at the local fairs and carnivals when we were growing up and he would bring home some of the stuffed animals that were ripped. My mother would patch them up and we had them in our rooms to play with and use as decorations. My mother would insist that we vacuum them and set them outside in freezing cold temperatures in the winter to kill bacteria.

I mentioned this to my client who collects the toys. She said she had never thought about the toys having germs on them. The next time I visited the family she had the entire porch lined with the plush stuffed animals. It was a cold day and she was using my mother’s technique of freezing off the germs. She said that she had put out the cushions of the furniture as well as the pillows in the house as well. It was good to see that she was still allowing her children to play, and was still enjoying her animals, yet was making sure that they would not get sick.

Nothing stinks more than getting lost! There have been several occasions in my life where I’ve found myself driving, but clueless as to where I was. I’m sure you can relate. And if you’re like most of us, you probably pulled the trusty map out of the glove compartment to get an idea of where you actually were.

Sadly you then realized that the map was a general U.S. map and had no details of the small town you’re in. Yeah, that’s when things really get fun. After a bit of driving in circles, searching for the interstate, you make the decision to pull over at a gas station and ask for directions. Just make certain you remember what they tell you or you’ll be back at square one. Now, if you’re still grappling with situations like this, you truly shouldn’t be. Not with technology such as a GPS at your fingertips.

I think all vehicles should now come standard with GPS navigation systems. It just makes sense. This is an accessory we all need from time to time. Especially if we’re headed out on a road trip. It’s pretty easy to lose your way in that labyrinth of roads and highways out there. But, with a GPS navigation system you don’t ever have to. Even if you miss your turn or exit, the GPS system will redirect you and set you back on the right course of travel.

The first time I used a GPS I was shocked. I fell utterly in love with this high-tech mapping system. I didn’t even have to look at the little screen. I simply punched in my starting address and the destination address. The GPS system informed me of how many miles I would have to travel and what time I should expect to arrive. As I drove, it spoke to me and told me what exits to take. And even when I wasn’t able to take a particular ramp due to construction, the GPS quickly re-routed. Now I never travel anywhere in a vehicle without my trusty GPS system.

A GPS can assist you regardless of where you reside. These innovative devices have the entire globe programmed into them. All you need to know is your starting coordinates and your destination address, and you’re good to go. I guarantee you won’t get lost ever again. Take a GPS on your next road tripping adventure.
